Grace Student Ministry

In our student ministry, we value connections above everything else. First, we desire for students to grow in their connection with Christ. We want them to see this as the most important relationship they will ever have, impacting their desires, decisions, and destination. We also want students to be connected with their parents, who we want to equip, resource, and support in every way we can as they raise and disciple their kids. Finally, we want students to be connected with volunteer leaders who invest in them and also other peers in the youth group who can help encourage and sharpen them.
We work to design all our gatherings and events around these connection points and ultimately, we pray that God uses these connections to bring about life transformation in every student who walks through our doors!

On Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 a.m., students gather in the student ministry rooms (Jr. High-161 and Sr. High-162). This is a time of teaching from God's Word, discussion, and fellowship with students and leaders. Once every quarter, we have a big fellowship breakfast potluck!

On Sunday evenings from 6-8 p.m., Jr. and Sr. High students gather at the church (both youth rooms and gym) for fun games, hanging out, and worship. We sometimes have special theme nights or parties on these evenings as well. During the second hour of the evening, students go to their connect groups, which stay the same for the whole school year and are age and gender specific. Leaders engage students in Scripture-centered topics and discussion and students can connect with others on a deeper level while also having fun together.
We often have something fun coming up on the calendar, from parties to off-site outings to lock-ins and retreats. We want lots of opportunities for students to have shared experiences together as well as opportunities to invite friends. One of our favorite retreats is our summer camp we run up in Lake Geneva, WI, every June! To hear more about what we have coming up or to join the parents' e-mail list, contact John Vanne.
Each year, we participate in "Mission: Peoria," a week-long inner-city missions trip run by The Dream Center and in partnership with many church youth groups. It is a chance for us to join together as the greater body of Christ, serve, and reach our city for Christ!
We also lead a foreign mission trip to Belize every other July (odd years). This is a team of primarily teens, college students, and young adults that is selected and trained for six months in preparation to partner with a local church down there in reaching their community with the Gospel.
